Of course! It was my fayyyvorite back in the day! Loved it!
Now THAT was entertainment!
We'd watch it in our dorm rooms before going out for the night.
Jeff Altman used to be a riot!!!
i never heard of him before or after that show.
I watched it during its original short run. a total train wreck. back then anyone and there brother had a variety show of which probably 10 percent went past 5 episodes. remember the starlight vocal band having a variety show based on a one hit wonder song.
i remember that, too!
what was Pink Lady's song that made it over here? UFO? i can't remember.
My favorite part of the show was when Jeff would organize the bukkakie parties and random dudes would line up to blow loads on Pink Lady's face...
Paul Lynde had a variety show. I remember Kiss being on it, a complete mess.
This 1975 train-wreck lasted 18 episodes. How could anyone believe that HC should be hosting a variety show?
Don't know the show, but he kind of reminds me of this guy:
I don't remember Pink Lady and Jeff, but any time you can combine the wacky comedy of Jim Varney with the power pop of Cheap Trick, and then top it with a cameo from BJ and The Bear, I'm in!
When it comes to variety hours, you're gonna be hard pressed to find a better premise than that of Shields and Yarnell. Whoever sold that idea to the network was a genius. "...yeah, I know they're mimes who can't actually talk to the guests...that's the beauty of it!!!"
The Bay City Rollers were on his first show and they were so hyped as the next Beatles it was insane. He had a lot of publicity for this show. And it was horrible.
I loved Shields & Yarnell, yet I loathe mimes. It's a conundrum.
The C&T variety show on ABC in 1976-1977 was stupid, but at least they had some talent
Wretched show and I'm a big Jeff Altman fan.
He's the redneck voice you hear "call in" to Letterman's show once a month or so.
Dave picks up the rotary phone, says "hello?" & there's this sound of a pack of dogs barking wildly.
Altman can be heard yelling on the other end, "Mildred? I told you to put them damned dogs outside!"
Very funny icomedian but his sub-pop cult refs go way over the heads of anyone born after 1973.
I sure hope he's making more money these days than Rev. Bob Levy.
Anybody starts talking shit about Donny & Marie in this thread gets cut, capisce?
ABC also put this steamy pile of horse shit on the air during the 1976-1977 season
Didn't Letterman get his start on The Starland Vocal Band summer replacement series?
I like them but it got old very fast. I mean how many weeks in a row can you watch mimes doing basically the same thing over and over again.
fuck Maureen was so hot.
