Since Howard is re-airing his "SNL on Stern" special, I thought I'd ask this question:

Why have there been so few SNL stars who were on Saturday Night Live in the past decade?

No Kristen Wiig, an emerging movie star.

No Jason Sudeikis, who fought with Artie on Joe Buck's show.

No Abby Elliott (Chris' daughter and JD's crush.)

No Andy Samberg, a guy who shook up the show with his digital shorts.

No Rob Riggle, the ex-Marine who's hosting ESPN's ESPYs.

No Fred Armisen or Keenan Thompson (though both were interviewed by the Tapes Team for the SNL on Stern special).

No Seth Meyers, who roasted the president and could replace Regis.

No Amy Poehler, even though she and her husband are big Stern fans.

No Maya Rudolph, NBC sitcom star.

No Bobby Moyniham, the fat guy.

No Jay Pharoah, the black guy.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can only think of 4 people who were on SNL in the past decade who've been on the Stern show.

--Tina Fey, who left in 2006.

--Tracy Morgan, who left in 2003.

--Darrell Hammon, who left in 2009 after 14 seasons.

--Jimmy Fallon, who left in 2004.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, I know Howard doesn't watch SNL and never was a fan.

But he's had so many SNL veterans on over the years that he could do that "SNL on Stern" special.

A special in which he spoke in awe of the job Lorne Michaels did.

PLEASE, PLEASE don't say SNL is irrelevant. Thanks to the internet and social media, SNL is more talked about than ever before.

My point is that Howard has essentially made himself the destination for SNL people, yet none of the most recent talked about SNL stars have been on the show.

They don't bow down to howard's super creative sketch ideas when he considers going on. All of SNL is jealous

Plus the fact that most of those guys you mentioned are not really that great or interesing

I would like to see a special about the past guests of the old channel 9 Howard Stern TV Show. Remember when they had the gay comic on and Gilbert was doing his Dice Clay act? I believe that is where the sound clip "What are you a HOMO?!?!?" came from.

SNL might be culturally relevant because they parody topical subjects but it has not been funny for many years.

The "howard's super creative sketch ideas" era was 15 years ago when he was promoting Private Parts.

I'm talking about the recent past, when Howard hasn't even considered going on SNL.

As for those people being not interesting. Well, you never know until you interview them.

Who knew that Rob Schneider, Darrell Hammond and Jim Breuer would be Stern show regulars?

Are they more entertaining/interesting than the people listed above (some of whom actually have more juice to their careers).

He did speak very highly of Kristen on numerous occasions after seeing Bridesmaids.

I was under the impression it was to get her booked, but it obviously didn't work.

I like Kristen, but I'm not interested in hearing Howard ask if she likes anal while Fred plays that fart sound in the background.

Don't forget that 50 times that Dave Attell had to point out that hes "not a sketch comedian" to explain his rapid departure.

A pretty simple answer is that Gary doesn't book guests anymore.

keenan thompson was on dec 10, 2009

however, i agree. should get more SNL guests. especially considering the NBC connection w/ AGT, and the fact that SNL tapes a few blocks away from howard's studio.

also what happened to sandler supposedly visiting?

    Thanks for the correction.

At the very least, they should have Tina Fey on again.

That woman just spews hilarious gossip, especially on the Stern show.

I don't hate Jim Breuer, Rob Schneider, Darrell Hammond and David Spade, but I want to see more relevant SNL stars/alums on the show.

SNL people look at Stern as glorified Morning Zoo host far below them on the food chain. It's like it's 1989 again...without the future stardom.

None of those people "get the show." Plus, Gary admits you have to call him and book yourself on the show and if he isn't asleep or playing solitaire, he might call you back.
