From what I've read on here, a lot of people think Howard will use these interviews in his next project. Does Howard own them or does Sirius?

I'm almost certain that Howard owns EVERYTHING. Sirius has rights to air the show and after Howchie is gone he may sell them a license to air it.

I would say that Stern owns everything however he seems to be powerless when it comes to paying or retaining talent. Some other guy is in charge of that I guess.

It's all his. His show and the content are under his production company.

What about the K-Rock shows? Did Sirius buy them from Viacom or did Howard? We all know Howard never uses his own money.

I believe he mentioned he owns all the tapes from both Krok and Sirius, but they are useless. Who would pay for them? The Krok tapes were his best work and it hasn't been a big draw to his channel. Who really wants to hear an interview from Madonna in 2 years or even 2 days after it happened.

No one wants to hear Madonna. The bits and song parodies along with interviews of Pat Cooper, Sam/Dice/Jessica, and some others would be great to hear, except they will have been whitewashed, so they will all suck.

    He owns them.

He made sure not to make that mistake again like he did with Viacom.

The old stuff is currently heavily censored and edited. I might pay $3 a month to hear complete old KROK shows...

Yes, then they settled and CBS sold the tapes.

Howard owned the Intellectual Property but not the performance. That is why they re did some old bit and it sucked harder than KC jonesing for another line.

The related question to ask....the question(s) worth asking....might possibly be....exactly who is it that "owns" the "companiES"...that are said to own/"control" the "rights" etc?

..or wait....I take that kind of back..just a slight but ever so important bit.

Exactly who will it be that will/may come to own/"control" the "rights" etc?

    Oh the humanity.
    Oh the legalitiES.

This. Howchie got burned by WOR and by CBS. He also got screwed out of the Son of the Beach DVD. I doubt he gets screwed out of anything again. Funny thing about the WOR show was that he wasn't at zero on that deal. He had joint rights to it. He could have put it out on DVD back in the day and made a healthy sum. Instead, he balked at the amount WOR would have gotten. He wanted it all or nothing.

I think they were a part of a settlement. CBS was suing Howchie for doing free on-air promotion of Sirius. My bet is that Sirius paid whatever the settlement was and that the settlement included the tapes.

I assume he owns it all and makes all decisions for his show
I've little doubt that he's quite bright and keeps a tight grip on all his shit
