Cryptomnesia occurs when a forgotten memory returns without it being recognized as such by the subject, who believes it is something new and original.

    Makes sense
    :dontknow:

As long as he's suffering, that's OK in my book.

But in Wiggy's case, it's selective memory. Most narcissists share that characteristic.

The basic idea is simple. An author or artist working on a piece remembers something that they have seen or read previously but they fail to recognize it as a memory and instead believe it to be an original thought or idea.

Ahh. Interesting. So when Howard invented Fartman he was actually tiptoeing through his subconscious and time spent with MAD magazine. Maybe Howard does suffer from this.

    Cool thread idea.

Howard invented Whip'em Out Wednesdays when he told people to tie a ribbon around their car.

Or when he claimed MTV ripped him off with The Osbournes. Howard probably watched the MTV cribs episode with the Osbournes (before they had the reality show) and he told Ozzy MTV should follow his family around.

That could explain why Howard keeps telling the same stories over and over and acting like we've never heard them before. He told the same long boring pointless story about his work experiences after college twice in a month and didn't even seem to realize it.

Howard could have heard Steve Dahl doing "The homo club" and came up with "The homo room." Dahl would invite his guests to come into the homo club with him. :bigthink

He suffers from Kleptomnesia which is when the subject's financial success is predicated on the work of others but he forgets to financially reward anyone but himself.

Crpytomnesia with borderline pseudologia fantastic syndrome.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudologia_fantastica

pseudologia fantastica is a behavior of habitual or compulsive lying.
The individual may be aware they are lying, or may believe they are telling the truth, being unaware that they are relating fantasies.
30% of subjects had a chaotic home environment, where a parent or family member had a mental disturbance.
The stories told tend toward presenting the liar favorably. The liar "decorates their own person"[SUP][4][/SUP] by telling stories that present them as the hero or the victim.

I'd say 30% of everyone had a chaotic home environment, or a parent or family member with a mental disturbance.

This condition gives him waaaaay too much benefit of the doubt. Interesting disorder but Howchie suffers from being a neurotic LYING asshole who surrounds himself with ass kissers and revisionist historians. No wonder he can't keep anything straight.
