Billions of galaxies each with trillions of stars?
There has to be another Howard Stern out there who is still funny.

A guy smokes a lil herb once in awhile, and that makes him the Board Stoner?

That's it. I'm moving to edibles. Immediately.

...in case this turns out to be a serious thread....

It's not what we know that blows the mind... it's trying to imagine what we don't know. 100 years ago we didn't know the universe was expanding, nor did we know there were any other galaxies, and we thought the atom with protons, neutrons and electrons was the smallest building block of nature.

100 years later and we have figured out that we were wrong about ALL of that and the universe is infinitely larger and more complicated than we ever could have imagined. Just imagine what we will know in 100 more years, let alone 1,000 years.

Right now, the limitation is our powers of observation. We need to 'see' more to come up with hypotheses and theories about it. But to me... the really BIG question is... assuming we gain the ability to manipulate matter at the atomic level (which seems perfectly reasonable). At that point, we have total and complete control over everything. We can stop every disease. We can stop aging. We can create life from nothing. We can revive dead people. We can stop people from ever dying. What then? If this is all a big science experiment... then surely that has to be the finish line, if not before?

Our sun will last billions more years... surely we will be reach the finish line before it blows up.

I'm guilty of still feeling it's impossible that the universe is infinite. Like unable to accept the fact that there's something infinite. Like there's no "End of the Universe."

Yes, but I don't think about it much but when I do I can't wrap my brain around why we are even here. I get the big bang theory.....if that's how it all started? I don't understand why something was even there to cause the "Big Bang"?
