I couldn't even remember who the VPOTUS currently is without some serious thought. Do they actually have a role other than "understudy"?

Biden must have been paid to stay out of the race. I believe he would have killed Hillary in the Dem race.

In Trump's case, having someone with Washington experience will be important.

I can only think they matter in a negative sense ... think how Dick Cheney negatively influence the Bush Administration. Spiro Agnew didn't do Nixon any favors either. Being saddled with Johnson was a big problem for Kennedy, his defacto VP was his brother Bobby.

Usually they're just around for comedic breaks and rightly so. The last VP who had to step up and do the job (Ford) wasn't even on the ticket.

In their minds the VP candidate is chosen solely to pander to a particular segment for their vote.

He would have won it easy. She can barely beat a self-admitted socialist.

we were talking about this at work. at the beginning of the race howard constantly said trump doesnt want to be president that he was doing it for the promotion and notoriety. if trump didnt want to be president he could appoint anyone vice president and if he won step down and his vp would be president. In a very round about way if it all worked out trump could theoretically choose the future president.

so in a way it does matter who is VP because you never know what the elected president will do.

based on this sort of loophole should the presidential candidate be able to choose the vice president or should they be voted in also?

Both candidates are 70, Hilary doesn't appear well and Trump is an overindulgent, overweight guy ripe for a heart attack. The chance the VP becomes president is a distinct possibility in either scenario.

Trump would really be wise then to take Ted Cruz as his VP for that segment of the voters who care about the Constitution.:)

Its all about the vote. For example, if Kasich gets the nod, Trump wins Ohio.

    Ask him what?

Why he only panders to his constituents every 6 years when he needs their votes? I'm sure he's out there again about how we need to secure the border. F---- him.
