Dog Tries To Save Lobster From The Boiling Pot (Video)

The Internet is filled with countless stories of interspecies friendships, but a video (below) of a German shepherd trying to protect a lobster from the boiling pot on Thanksgiving is making hearts melt like butter.

According to Sami the dog’s owners, she has always had a protective streak, reported Daily Mail. “I've seen it with babies, kittens, even my pet snake,” they wrote in the video’s description. Though Sami has never had puppies, she took the lobster under her care like it was her own.

When Sami was asked to give back the lobster, whose claws were in rubber bands, she whined and covered the crustacean with her head and paws. Though her family laughed, Sami cried and licked the lobster.

Her family eventually had the lobster for dinner,:bigcry: but they have since adopted another puppy named Gunny. Sami and Gunny are reportedly inseparable.

Lobster is so good but I don't want anything to do with the cooking. I love not to know!

I refuse to click that bc I don't want the sads.

That said, I take solace in the fact that the dog would enjoy eating that beautiful portion of lobster with me.

Isn't lobster pretty much an ocean insect?

The whole thing was staged. Why was the lobster on the floor? The only thing the dog wanted to do was give it a good chomp and run off to the back yard with it. That's why it was whimpering. It was trying to be a good dog.

    This.

I liked how he showed his teeth to the other do when it came close. It was more like he was protecting his bone/toy.

Yes. These fuckers are just highly evolved sea cockroaches.

Crustaceans in general are just god damn bugs that happen to live in the ocean and many hatch from larvae.

Seriously, you start pumping a roach with some growth hormone, sprinkle a little creatine on his head and put him on a Schwarzenegger 7-day split and pretty soon he's going shot for shot with a maine lobster and sleeping in its carcass for the victory lap.

I also read that their brain is so tiny that they barely feel anything if you dump them in boiling water.

They're in the same animal phylum as the common bug and spider, Arthropoda.

They used to be poor peoples food. Fishermen fed it to their indentured servents, and it was generally despised and ground up for fertilizer. It wasn't until the invention of the railroad and the ability to transport them that they became an expensive delicacy.

My parents and family always let them crawl around for fun before they got cooked when we were kids. I didn't think anything was out of place there.

That's what lobster fishermen say so people don't feel like they're boiling insects alive for food.
