Brody has progressed wonderfully with his "sit/stay" response but he has been pretty horrendous on a leash. Having more time to work with him recently he has improved to the point where he only pulls under major distractions so I took him around the property a bit to expose him to some sights and work on his obedience. He gets a "B" grade after about an hour walk. Good boy!!!!!

Our Manchester Terrier, Jacky, has decided that he is alpha dog and challenged Brody a few times. One scuffle resulted in a trip to the vet, stitches and me getting nicked for $150. Obviously we owe it to Jacky to protect him from the new guy so Brody now has a muzzle for training and we have adapted how we do things to limit confrontations. My wife is leaning towards wanting to find another home for Brody but I'm not ready to give up on him yet.

Plus he's the one that started it.

Don't write checks with your mouth that your ass can't cash, Jacky.

You wont be able to fix the terrier until he gets over 10 yrs He will always think he's boss. What kind of dog is Brody, cattle mix maybe?

I give up on people in a hurry bit I'll work with this guy. He's smart, he'll get it.

    NO!!!!

We are about his 5th. He was bounced around quite a bit and likely abused before we got him. I have a soft spot for that sorta thing.

It's a terrier thing. One of my now deceased miniature pinschers once attacked a neighbor's Rottweiler. That went well. He broke his front leg then stood his ground. Tough fucker that one was.

    Thanks! It will.

Brody is an Akita mix (probably boxer or pit by the looks of him). I'm familiar with the terrier temperament. It's our fault since he is so small his obedience issues haven't been a problem for us (dummies). We are training him now too and he is eager to please so that should help gain some order. We have to ultimately concentrate on Brody since he is the one that can cause the damage.

Must be a Texan fetish. :toptip:

is there still aggression with the dogs since they had their fight? Maybe they've worked things out with that initial fight

Jacky still growls at him. He usually blows it off.....the problem is the "usually" aspect. When they are free to intermingle Brody now has a soft muzzle to take the teeth out of the mix. That may help them work through it without the vet bills.
