upon his death. Howard said absolutely not, then went on to say how bad Eric had it his entire life. In essence Dr. KOAB made a valid point..... Right? :grad:

That's a bit strange because Howard was saying how miserable Eric's new life was going to be under his parent's care (true).

I think Howard was just in that mode where he wasn't going to say anything negative about Eric or his family.

I wouldn't be AT ALL surprised if Eric's parent filed a lawsuit against Stern. They hated him and I'm sure Howie would part w a couple of million just to get out of the depositions. And an Eric lawsuit could bring up years of how Howard profited off of damaged women and intellectually disabled people. It could totally fuck up Howard's new squeaky clean image.

In fact, AGT Howard would RUN from the lawsuit.

Any shyster attorneys here on Dawg's??

Come on are you that stupid?
The New York DA is building a case on the basis that Eric was killed by high ranking Sirius Stealth Assassins for ratings and to bring old members back listening.

Aside from his multiple health issues, like having to be lifted on and off the potty, Eric lived a fairly independent life. I'm sure his parents are crushed.

Howard never really bothered to investigate just how much Eric did on his own. We got little bits of info here and there over the years. But I always wanted to get a complete picture of Eric's day. According to Eric (in his last call) he "pretty much" bathed himself. What does that mean? Jon lifts him in and out of the tub but is absent while Eric washed? Did Eric dry himself off? Did he have a urinal mounted so he could just whip out and pee? You'd think the "Greatest Interviewer of All Time, Robin" would have bothered to get Eric to paint a picture of his life for us.

Of course, there's no valid suit there. Eric willingly chose to continually call the show.

But if they did decide to file a nuisance suit, it would be VERY bad press for Howard at a time when he's spent years trying to "rehabilitate" his image. (why we all hate him now)

This is from last year when Eric brings up his family and possible lawsuits.

There were times when Howard deliberately avoided details that would hurt Eric.

After the Kendra debacle, Eric was ripe for continuous on-air ribbing over his stupidity for falling in love w a stripper/porn star who was only using him for Stern Show airtime.

Basically, Kendra visited him, saw him in person and close up, and realized that she couldn't continue the scam. She never contacted him again. But Eric, in love for the first time in his life, was also deeply hurt when the "relationship" collapsed.

In months that followed, whenever Robin or Artie or Fred would bring up Kendra, Howard would immediately end the conversation. Howard could have exploited that and gotten some good radio. But he put Eric's feelings above the show and spared him further humiliation and pain.

There were times, when Howard was kind.

I am sure there is a sliver in his parents that welcome Eric being at peace, but that's a far cry from "being happy" that they lost their son.

KOAB is a piece of garbage, appropriately.

Eric the Midget lived a fantasy life created on the Internet and The Howard Stern Show. He was completely dependent upon both. One served him well, the other did not.

If Eric had gotten a job at say, a Walmart at age 19, lived out in a real world among real people, then he might have had a very different life. Perhaps finding a real girl who was not a contestant on American Idol, but loved him for just being Eric.

Eric always (pridefully) spoke about never doing drugs or alcohol. But what he chose to retreat from reality was far more powerful than any substance.

    RIP, ETM.

No, silly, I meant that he was independent from his parents. He may have been emotionally dependent on his pseudo-fame, but unlike many severely disabled people, he wasn't a burden on his family.

This is relevant to the OP's initial post.

If not as if Stern Show regulars are chosen for their intelligence or sensitivity.

    Sorry. I misunderstood.

But the more I think about it, I think Eric may actually have been affected by the prospect of, once again, living under his parents authority.

Eric lived in a house that his parents owned. Neither he nor Jon could use the master bedroom of the house, because Eric's parents might drop in sometime. He wasn't allowed guests in that house. They had a vehicle that his father owned, but there were restrictions on using it. As I recall, he never took that vehicle anywhere.

Eric HAD to be present for whatever family gatherings they had because his parents decided that he should be there.

Eric was 39 years old. He was a fucking grown (sort of) man. But clearly, he was still under his parents thumbs for many aspects of his life. Past age 22, I couldn't even IMAGINE living under my parents roof again.

The other thing that may have affected the situation was, Eric's parent's disapproval of the life he'd built via the Stern Show. Phony stripper girlfriends, Bunny Ranch whores, embarrassing TV "acting gigs", constant humiliation on the Stern Show. There was no way Eric's parents were going to put up with that if living with him.

I think Eric saw something he could neither accept or control, and faded away.

KOAB proves with every phone call what a dumb fucking animal he is.
