Florida swimmer panics at mere sight of friendly manatee (VIDEO) She wasn’t screaming "shark," but this swimmer was just as scared of a manatee that surprised her during a swim. Oh, the huge manatee! It’s likely the friendly sea cow spotted in a viral video was more scared of this melodramatic girl than she was of it. The video depicts Caroline Winch swimming somewhere in the warm waters of Florida when she’s spooked by the completely harmless endangered creature. Her worst fear? The mysterious aquatic animal cruising just below the water’s surface may have been a close relative to sharks. “It was like very large, I was thinking it had teeth,” Winch told Inside Edition. “I was starting to think it’s a shark’s cousin, it could hurt me, I could die out here, my mom would not see me again, I was very nervous.” Between spurts of Winch spewing panicked profanities, the video shows her dog paddling to the safety of her mocking friends and their boat without ever letting go of a selfie stick. Her camera captured the close encounter shared to YouTube this week and then garnering more than 4.5 million views. The video, however, fails to say when or where the footage was captured. Attempts by the Daily News to reach Winch were not immediately returned.
