Lord knows I'm not the most skilled when it comes to home improvement. I'm afraid to do anything like this in my primary residence, but I also own a little place on a lake and seem to have no problem throwing caution to the wind with it.

This is pretty much what I started with. Awful looking tile floor and busy wallpaper.

I tore off the wallpaper, which fucked up the walls. Ended up having to skim coat all the walls.

    Lovely floor.

After tearing off the wallpaper on most of the walls, I got sick of the slowness of the project, so I opted to install some v-channel paneling in the kitchen. I kind of wish I had done this on all the walls. It turned out really nice.

The flooring I put in is a cool product. It's resilient vinyl plank flooring (Trafficmaster Allure). It installs easily. My floor is very uneven. I needed something flexible, yet really durable. This stuff fit the bill. Each plank sticks together. I was worried about it not living up to its claims, but couldn't be any happier. The cool thing is that it can be installed directly over patterned flooring.

I didn't expect the place to be square, but this was ridiculous. I started on the left hand corner. By the time I reached the doorwall, I was a full 6" away from the door.

I decided to install shoe molding in addition to the base board. I'm glad I did.

The job is nearly finished here. I don't have all the trim work done.

I drove by a blown down barn once and grabbed a few pieces of wood before they hauled it away. I never knew what I was going to do with it, but got inspired by the banner here at Dawg's. I found the hooks on Ebay.

Fuck I love doing home improvements. I would have been there with my senco trim nailer and a cooler of frozen drink pouches beer and we could have worked the night away.

I love it Droog congrats. My husband I have owned our house for nine yrs and have yet to have a contractor darken our door. Sweat equity will make you wealthy in the end.

My house was a rental for 14 yrs before we bought it. :(
I was four months pregnant ripping up carpet an refinishing the oak floors underneath. I still look down and say "Fuck Yeah, I did that!"
    Enjoy.

I used a Senco angled trim nailer. :jj: Don't know how the Amish can stand getting by with a hammer.
That's my fear about it. I think the total cost of the floor was only about $600. If it starts coming up, I'll be disappointed. Right now, it won't peel apart. I left small gaps in a few places while installing it and didn't notice until I came back across. There was no pulling the pieces apart to fix it.
Have you seen me around much lately? Been a busy as hell summer.
I enjoy the end product when I do work myself. What I don't enjoy is getting there.

You're shoe molding looks good. I see a lot of people screw up angle cuts. Not a big deal but you couldnt of used a pinner with some liquid nails on those. I can see your nail holes. Not a big deal just the cabinet maker in me.

Things like this are one of the very few reasons I would consider living with or marrying a fellow again.

That and the penis, of course.

    Looks gorgeous Droog!

The detail on the base was a great touch. On a river house the planks won't last, sorry. Great touch the color scheme is very chill

You can't anymore. :jj: I pre-painted, then went back and filled in the holes and painted them over again. I took the pictures before I was done with everything.

I glued the shoe, and used a combination of glue and finish nails on the base boards. The angle cuts were a pain in the ass in a few spots though. I'm slow and deliberate, so I didn't make a cut until I was sure I was close.
