Pero passed away Friday of an apparent heart attack, the Associated Press reports. The band confirmed the death on their Facebook page: "The members of Twisted Sister are profoundly saddened to announce the untimely passing of our brother, A.J. Pero," they wrote. "The band, crew and most importantly the family of A.J. Pero thank you for your thoughts and prayers at this time." Pero was on tour with Adrenaline Mob when his body was discovered on the tour bus Friday morning by the other band members, who were unable to resuscitate him, the Twisted Sister guitarist Jay Jay French told the AP. Pero was born in Staten Island, New York, and began drumming at the age of 3, according to his website. He joined Twisted Sister in his early 20s and proceeded to record six albums and go on four world tours with the band. In later years he taught drum clinics, his website says, and continued to tour and record.
