Dumb excersice advice

    I want to tone my arms (among other things). If i do weights everyday for arms, that will not be overdoing it, since they are only 5 pounds, correct? Anyone else see results from weights in toning arms? Im a female by the way.

    Howard related because I could stand to lose 10.

    have to do every other day.
    dont work same muscles groups everyday, they need a day at least to rebuild

    do like 3 sets of 12-15. increase weight when it gets too easy

    I do no exercising of any sort
    I have a metabolism that is apparently fueled by whatever makes the sun get hot
    but I would think 5 pounds ain't no good to tone up your shit

    3/4 of your muscle mass in the arms is tricep...dont neglect the triceps :grad:

    I used to be like this. But after chemo 5 years ago, metabolism is shit now. Weird..

    Please tell me you are a woman because if you are a guy curling 5lb weights you are beyond help.

    Assuming you are a woman, I disagree with needing to take a day off in between. A day off is good for body builders but if you are just toning, the 24hrs in between is plenty. 5lbs is really low, move up to 10 as quickly as you can because you will be doing very little toning with 5lbs.

    You definitely don't want to do the same muscle groups every day. You need rest in between to build those muscles. Muscles grow while resting. 2-3 days will take care of things but I would also add 30 minutes of cardio 4-5 times a week. And oh yeah, eat right. I have worked out like crazy and actually gained weight by not watching what I eat. Good luck.

    i dont know, 5 lb to her may be like 100lb to arnold.
    if her muscles tear at all or get sore, they need to rebuild. :dontknow:

    Constantly vary the excercise for maximum results. Have a look at this link, it is completely safe. It is run by a few of my friends from Crossfit. You sign up and get five new workouts a week that you can do from home with little to no equipment.

    mix it up a bit. Never do the same exact exercises daily.

    Lose the 10 pounds through diet and walking.

    As far as toning your arms, I would use isometrics and resistance training, you don't even need to invest in weights.

    I just started with a trainer mainly for Tri bi and abs, but it's not easy and 5lbs is not "pushing yourself" I suggest going to a personal trainer even if it's just 2 or 3 sessions, learn what you can and take it with you. 4 days a week and stop eating...actually drinking too.. I haven't gotten there yet! o_O

    Seeing a trainer for a few sessions is a good idea, particularly to learn proper technique. When I see folk grunt and swing/arch their backs for momentum when doing curls, they're not going to see decent results.
