Whenever Howard does an impression of Elvis he talks about hims rubbing the lump of fat/flesh that rose on back of her neck atop the spine. And evidently this was the case because I read up a bit about it. I was just wondering if medical types on this board knows what this this condition is?? Also feel free to include illustrations.
Not a medical type but I know prednisone can cause it. Weight gain is usually the most dreaded side–effects of steroid use, incurred to some degree by nearly all patients who take them. The amount of weight gain varies from individual to individual. In addition to causing weight gain, prednisone leads to a redistribution of body fat to places that are undesirable, particularly the face, back of the neck, and abdomen. Pictured below is a example of redistribution of body fat to the back of the neck. Accumulation of fat in this area is sometimes referred to as a “buffalo hump”.
I read the nickname thing and did some more reading up on it, and I think Satnin was his nickname for his mother, not the actual lump of fat on the back of her neck. At first I thought it was like a dowager's hump but Howard always refers to it as a lump of fat. LOL He also used to rub her feet and them her sooties. They spoke baby talk to each other.
