Thought Andy Richter was a good guest. He seems to be pretty honest, and he doesn't mind talking about a lot
of stuff that I thought was interesting. Does a good Jay Leno impression, too!

And it was a nice change from all the AGT talk. Not that anyone could EVER get tired of that!

Eh, I felt like he was lying when he talked to Jay

Seems everyone is afraid to actually tell Jay what they think over the phone.

He somewhat changed his story on what he said on the phone and IMO it was because he probably wasnt as hardcore on the phone as he said he was

His boss ..Conan.. is a whiny elitist arrogant cunt
who has never got much above a 1 share anywhere
he's been then wanted to be anointed the new king
of late night and don Johnny's crown. He's where he belongs
in limbo on TBS ..whatever that is

I think it could have gone on a few more minutes. Howard almost hit a home run with this one, he just needs to let the guests finish a sentence and put a muzzle on Blobbin.

Spot on. I guess cause the hate is so strong for Leno nobody ever tells the truth about Conan. By the way, it was he that blackballed Leno to begin with when he went to the brass and muscled his way to the gig prematurely. Leno was number one when they made the deal.

And was still number one when they made the change. Of course what they bitch about they did the same thing to Lopez but somehow that's different. Point is, Conan didn't bring in the ratings in fact, they were awful. And he was out of his element. He got his golden parachute but what about his team? After all, they could have reverted back to the old time slot and "his" team wouldn't have missed out on my salary.

No, he couldn't do that. He did what Stern would do in that situation. Conan got his and still hasn't stopped bitching.

I had fun listening to him as well. Actually laughed outloud a few times. I liked that he teased Fred a bit and asked about the sibian. He did a good whiney impression of jay and got Howard into it. Fun and funny.

    ========

Howie Mandell is one of the few who see Conan as the true
evil/wimp in this whole imbroglio ............he's done nothing
to merit a shot at the Tonight Show ..........when he usurped
Leno's ass right outta there Leno was right to start subverting
right back on his creepy Harvard butt ...and bravo for Jay he won
and beat Dave every night to boot
i don't drink the Stern Kool Aid about demonizing Jay ....he's just a
guy in showbiz tryin to keep on keepin on ....big deal he hired dithering
John ...gave him a few bucks ....Stern was planning on keeping him in
indentured servitude for as long as he could ....so he broke free ....kudos

Conan's show used to have an edge and was actually quite good at one time. But since taking over for Leno, Conan became the late night TV version of Howard and started taking everything too seriously. Comedy taken seriously isn't funny.

Jay Leno was 53/54 when Conan forced NBC to make Leno retire.

Conan just turned 49. He'll be 53/54 in a few years.

Imagine some young buck forcing Conan out because he's "too old."

As for Leno, if he did what Howard suggested and stormed off NBC in 2004, then Leno would've had to start over with many new people, from scratch. He probably would've failed.

But Leno isn't stupid enough to think like Howard. In fact, I don't think Howard is stupid enough to take Howard's advice.

    Instead, Leno stuck it out.

    And guess where he is?

Hosting The Tonight Show and, next Friday, he'll celebrate 20 years as host.

    ==========

Another 9 yrs and he'll equal the gr8 Johnny Carson
as the all time longest ongoing host of the Tonight Show
and ifya count all his stints as guest-host and alla Johnny's
days off and frequent vacations he's probably gonna eclipse
Carson's record 7 yrs from now ....if he makes it

NBC should have let him go in that case. How can you blame Conan for trying to get a better job?

And I'm pretty sure everyone that worked for Conan got paid.

And he had a shitty lead in.

I agree! TERRIFIC interview! He's been on the show before and always is funny AND interesting!! (like Artie) ;)
I loved the last few minutes when Howard was doing Jay Leno's voice for
animation (a Leno Lemur).. HILARIOUS !
His Jay Leno impression = VERY funny!

(he should enter his own Celebrity Impression Contest) ;)

Anyway...LOVE your post....and sarcasm! Yes!! It was a SUPER nice change
    from all that AGT chatter!

    peace & love

i actually like jay Leno on the tonight show. as much as people seem to hate him so much, i think his monologues are funny most of the time when i actually stay up late enough to watch his show.
I also liked Conan back in the day, but not so much anymore.

Every interview with Andy on Stern is identical!
How do we know it was really a live interview?
