I am sitting in the jury pool with my peers, first time I ever had to report to court for duty. Any one ever sat on a jury before, and how was the experience? They only do criminal trials at the court I am at. The whole process sounds intriguing, just not sure how long I can last here waiting to see if I actually get selected. Luckily if I don't get selected today, my service has been fulfilled for a year. Howard related because he abuses the judicial system for marble grabs.

Does a few minutes count? We were seated, the defendant took a look at us, talked to his lawyer, who then went to the prosecutor. They all approached the bench, talked for a few moments, then the judge turned to us and thanked us. The defendant got cold feet and took a plea deal.

Here's a tip - take a book to read to keep from getting bored to death.

I was called, but got out of it as I was taking College-night courses. Haven't been called back since, thank God

If you look anything like the guy in your avatar, then I can see why you weren't selected. :jj:

I was on a grand jury once. It was kind of cool. It was cool to see all the crime in my area.

The collection of personalities you will discover on the jury is always interesting and depressing.

I was on a jury once. I was seeded so far down the list of potential candidates (I was deep into the list of alternates) that I did not think I would get picked. The people ahead of me were clearly trying to get out of it and were acting like such assholes that they were getting dismissed one by one. Whenever the judge asked if they could serve without bias they would scratch their chin and hem and haw and get dismissed. Well, by the time I was called up as an alternate the judge was so tired of the horseshit that he didn't ask me anything. I was in. My work at the time did not give paid time off for jury duty so I thought I could plea financial hardship but the same judge gave us a speech while we were still in the waiting room. "Regarding dismissal for financial hardship, it is a very high bar to qualify. Let me put it to you like this. If you came here today in your own car, you likely make too much money to qualify.."

Manslaughter trial for a month. He was a crackhead who killed his brother during a fight. He gave himself up on a recorded phone call from jail. He got life in Solano. Later....

    Selected multiple times.

Had a couple murder cases, one gang related. That one was tough.

Hardest one I've been on was a daughter that was sexually abused by her father. Had to look through hundreds of photos of abuse. It changed me. I will always hug my kids before going to bed each night, and if I ever get into trouble, I WILL take the stand in m defense.

Was on an assault jury in NYC. Guy driving a gypsy cab got pulled over by Taxi and Limo cops and attacked the cop with a screwdriver. He was found guilty. Pretty interesting to participate.

Good luck, if you get selected, it's like winning the lottery! You'll get paid a shitload of cash and probably get to bang some of the hot chicks on your jury!

You know, so was I. I had never been chosen before and wanted to actually be part of the judicial process
