I almost wrote "contemplated". It seems like a huge failure, then I think of the banks charging me 17% interest on a credit card, one of the "too big to fail" banks... their CEO would probably not miss any meals if I filed for bankruptcy. I keep asking them "based on my credit/payment history, do I qualify for a lower rate?" and they insist that's out of the question, so just based on the sheer FU quotient that makes it tempting to say "No, fuck YOU". Just something I'm rolling around to avoid doing work this morning.

Howard related: his show has been bankrupt of emotion and entertainment for years. When does he interview Imus? kraft.jpg

Consider? My second wife threw me into a financial tail spin. Had no choice. Wouldn't want to go through it again.

I did a lot of financial counseling and sometimes its the best option. Your credit score is shit at this point anyways if you are considering
it. Things to remember: no free homes, cars and cant write off student loans. Also I would not recommend it for someone who is thinking about buying a house since the bankrupcy stays with you for 7 years. If you need help shoot me a pm.

I thought about letting them foreclose on my condo that I'm underwater on.

A guy at work explained it to me in a way that gets you pissed at the banking Industry. ..and fuck them

foreclose on me...I'll save that money and use it in a few years along with a 401k loan to buy something cash

But then, my brother and my now husband listed all the cons of doing that

In laws did. Before the financial meltdown, they were giving out home loans like toasters so they had no problem buying homes again. I don't know about now.

My credit card debt has had me considering bankruptcy, but I'm gonna try financial counseling first, just keep procrastinating about it.

Dont fall for debt settlement scams! If you have over 10k in credit cards and making minimum payments only it could take 20 ears to pay it off. If you qualify for chapter 7 (assets and means testing) then you could be debt free in 5-6 months and pay less then 2k in attorneys fees. So it stays on your credit report for 10 years but if your thinking of bankruptcy your score is probably already poor. Since you cant file a chapter 7 again for 8 years you'll get flooded with offers for new credit cards and car loans! I know it sounds crazy but its true the very same companies that were suing you know what you back as a customer!

Did it in '09 (in Canada). Our situation tanked when my old boss cut my pay and I was forced to quit. My alcohol problem didn't help either.
