I am usually pretty careful with my money but I can recall two times where I was scammed. The 1st time was when I was 16 years old, I fell for the 3 card monte scam in Central Park. The second time was when I was equally stupid and fell for a telephone scam that was going to get me a credit card for a "small fee". The small fee was $40 and charged to my phone bill and he card never came.

Have you ever got nailed by a scam or fell for one of those "Get Rich Quick" schemes?

I did, in NYC years ago. These two black fellows (long story short) convinced me they had a bag full of money they wanted me to watch... had me put my money in their bag... they switched bags and said they'd meet me at McDonalds. Of course the bag contained ripped newspaper and the fucks got my money.
I never felt so stupid.

Wow. How the hell did you fall for that?

Only scam I ever fell for was one of the few times I actually bought weed. I checked it out and even got to sample a hit. Somehow the bag got switched and all I ended up with spices.

I've heard of people buying into treasure hunting. They fund the recovery or something like that and get a share of what it's worth. No one ever approached me for anything like that.

You've never seen The Sting (1973). They pulled that scam on a numbers runner for Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw) . . . got them in quite the mess.

:giggle: Oh fuck, I did that too. Also in the damn city... I got oregano! I didn't even check, they were pushy and scary.
The money shit? I have no clue how I was so stupid and naive and trusting. I cannot to this day understand why I did that.

Mine was in downtown Denver at a 7/11. Some dudes came up to us asking if we were looking for weed. I wasn't. I never bought the stuff. I always free load off of real stoners. The bag he showed me was the real deal. I smelled it and did a one-hitter out of it. Somehow, I took my eye off the ball and he switched the bags. I remember feeling like an asshole after finding out.

Buy from yourself and convince others to do the same. I'm shocked by how many people still fall for that shit.

That sucks. Yeah, it really leaves you feeling like an idiot... but it wasn't our fault that some scumbags ripped us off. At least we weren't dumb enough to fall for one of those email Nigeria scams.

Remember that phone call Howard got at Krock back in the day? Some lady was calling saying that she wanted to know where her money was. The scammer must have given out his number. Either that or it was a staged call.

I don't recall that one. Sounds pretty amusing though. Would be more amusing if Wiggy fell for the scam.

I heavily invested my 401k into World of Warcraft gold.

I mean, it's GOLD, so there's no way I can lose, right???
