'Something' was written on the piano while we were making the White Album. I had a break while Paul was doing some overdubbing so I went into an empty studio and began to write. -George Harrison

George Harrison first introduced "Something" at a Beatles session on 19 September 1968. At first George Martin considered it "too weak and derivative". Lennon and McCartney were also unimpressed, that is until they all began to work thru and rehearse the composition together. The song is almost unrecognizable when they begin. Then little by little you can hear the genius that was the Beatles, from seed to flower. Pretty special stuff I think.

Pattie Boyd was a stunner in her day. Boyd claimed that that the song "Something" was written for her but Harrison denied it. Here is a version of Something that Harrison did with Clapton after they had both divorced her.

Another interesting Clapton/Harrison fact, even though he was not credited on the Album, arguably Harrison's most famous song "While my guitar gently weeps", Clapton is actually playing lead guitar and not Harrison. That is Clapton on the White Album. Quite the gesture!

Can't hate on that! What's you're favorite Stones song? I think "Let it loose" is one of the greatest songs of all time. Top 5 for me.
