I'm having a really shitty week. My new wireless printer arrived yesterday an no one in IT is available to set it up for me. It's just sitting across from me in the box. And someone brought their dog to work today and it's barking.

    Thats awesome.

Too bad that Playstation is beating them to it, and coming out with their own VR rig. :cheer:

I've read a few articles from people that have seen Sonys VR prototype. It seems to be in a pretty early stage of development. It's not near as close to a consumer ready version as the Occulus is.

Your answer to your question is in the link you posted.

According to a statement from CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the company plans to expand Oculus beyond gaming:

After games, we're going to make Oculus a platform for many other experiences. Imagine enjoying a court side seat at a game, studying in a classroom of students and teachers all over the world or consulting with a doctor face-to-face -- just by putting on goggles in your home.

I can see the potential Facebook sees in VR. I guess it was inevitable that one of the big tech giants would snatch the occulus up. The upside could be huge. I was hoping at least the first consumer version of the Occulus was going to be just a core product for the hardcore gaming crowd.
