Entertainment Fans of the shield

    Something that always intrigued me about this excellent TV show, was when vic and his team ripped off the armenian money train. Near the end of that episode dutch was sent to the scene of the robbery, He looked around and started to smile,like he had worked out what had happened and he actually was impressed. I swear he knew back then it was vic and the strike team that did it. And subsequent episodes was him fucking with vic by involving him in his investigation because being the kind of person dutch was ,he kind of liked pulling wings off flys. I also loved the vic/ dutch dynamic, publically at least he made fun of dutch, but privately you could tell he respected 'dutch boys' skills as a detective and even feared him a little. There was also a few occasions when they collaborated in an investigation and you saw the rare moment when they express'd their mutual respect for each other.

    It is something I never hear mentioned by other fans, but to me that sums up how excellent the shield was, those little subtle things, this is why when I hear critics make out how 'shallow' the shield is compared to say 'the wire' they have no idea.

    Other than "Breaking Bad", "The Shield" is the only show I can think of that just got crazier each episode, right up until the series finale.

    There aren't too many opportunities to make "Shield" references, but I try to work in a good "Byz Lats" (the gang) reference once in awhile.

    I'm on Season 2 of Wayward Pines now. After that I'll checkout The Shield. Sounds like a great show.

    Everything after the money train robbery to Forest Whitaker showing up was a chore to get through and I almost gave up on the show. Remember Acevada and the prostitutes?

    Great show. Even though Vic was a scumbag, I hated the way it ended. I hated to see him humbled.

    One of the best shows ever, and I'm glad you mentioned Dutch, he was maybe my favorite character. Did you hear about the actor who played Julian murdering his wife?

    Taking this show back one notch farther - "Homicide" on NBC was always a fav of mine. Couldn't wait for Friday night homicide.
