Hundreds of workers from McDonald's, Taco Bell, Wendy's and other fast-food chains walked off their jobs Thursday. Labor organizers announced the protests would take place as part of the latest national push the get these companies to pay their employees at least $15 an hour.

Organizers warned they planned to engage in civil disobedience.

By 8:30 a.m. nearly two dozen protesters had been arrested outside a McDonald's in Times Square. They were facing disorderly conduct charges for blocking traffic.

Home-care workers were expected to join the protests taking place in 150 cities nationwide.

The "Fight for $15" campaign, which is backed financially by the Service Employees International Union and others, has gained national attention at a time when the wage gap between the poor and the rich has become a hot political issue.

The campaign started in New York City in November 2012, with 200 fast-food workers walking off their jobs demanding $15 and the right to form a union without retaliation.

Fuck these clowns. I worked in a pizza place at 16 for minimum wage. I never considered that line of work as a career. It's a starter-job. If you want to earn more, get the skills to do so. I hope every one of these fuckers get shit-canned w/ no unemployment benefits. WTF is happening to my country?

Entry level jobs are just that - entry level, to get experience and learn how to work, how to show up, take orders, etc. Teenagers used to get these jobs. They are not meant to support a family.

These "protests" are run by Labor Organizers/unions.

The more this goes on, the quicker these places will be automated. Such idiots.

They'd all be better off going on welfare. I have seen all sides of this issue first hand and I hope some of you that are so sure never fall on hard times.

seiu scum trying to start problems and gain more members by donating resources to these dummies.

$15 an hour? the only reason these fast food joints don't automate much more is because these same assholes would scream about how dare they remove jobs from poor working people. :jj:

$15 an hour and open borders. yeah, that's the ticket!

A good way to show you are worth $15 an hour is to go protest and not show up for work.

there is 0.0 chance of a 15 dollar an hour minimum wage. It is legal in TX to pay waitresses $2.00 an hour at shitty restaurants because they earn tips enough to get them up to minimum wage. Builders pay slave wages for skilled undocumented construction jobs often capping at 10 dollars an hour, under the table, with no fear what so ever. No taxes taken out. All cash. I wish all fast food places would burn to the ground. Sorry Roland.

$15? Most of them can't even count that high. But I digest......badly when I am forced to consume their products.
