My faves, in no particular order...

Actually, FMA: Brotherhood MIGHT just be my favorite of all time...

Ed could get REALLY annoying at times, though...

Cyborg 009: Another fave, my son actually hipped me to this one when he was around 10 years old (8 years ago)...

    A classic...

This one is pretty good, although the pace is a little slow (when the titans aren't eating people), and I wish they'd start Season 2 already :pissed:

This one was good, a lot of action, a bit dated, and also got a little off track at times, but, all in all, not bad...

Momotaro's Divine Sea Warriors - considered the FIRST anime. Commissioned by the Imperial Japanese Navy during WWII, it's a haunting, yet beautiful bit of animation (if you can ignore all of the anti-American stuff in it - it's actually kind of funny, until you think about the greater context of what the IJN was trying to get across to children...)

JUST finished this one, it was GREAT!

Hulu started autoplaying Tokyo Ghoul after Parasyte ended, and I just can't get into another vampire-based anything (sorry @mr.dracula, I feel a "vlock you!" coming my way...)

Do you guys have any recommendations on other good animes out there?

Log Horizon- if you ever played MMO's you'll love it.
One Punch Man- about a totally overpowered superhero. animation quality during fights is insane
    Gintama- humorous samurai science fiction
    Hunter x Hunter 2011
    Charlotte

Wish @Wing was still around, she was a big fan.

I liked how their clothes and machinery had kind of a worn dirty look, not all pristine shininess like most mecha series. S1 was really good, S2 never grabbed me and still haven't finished after starting it several months ago.

I have to watch spirited away for school, I'm in a Japanese class. A lot of people in my class are super into anime, so I'll see what it's all about.

I think the first time I seen a full length Anime movie was Akira maybe around 1994 and it was amazing. And since maybe the early 90s in my early teens I always loved stuff from japan, model robot kits like Gundam, the artwork, cartoons, etc.

favorite Animes is tough, I have so many
    fooly cooly series
    cowboy beopop series and movie
    samurai champloo
trigun series but haven't seen the movie
fullmetal alchemist, first series and brotherhood based off the magna and both movies to these series
ghost in shell first and second movie and the two series
    macros zero
    macros frontier
    memories' film
akira film (magna is much better than the movie, more in depth of the story and characters)
    neo Tokyo film
    grave of fireflys
mostly all of studio Ghibli's films
    metropolis film
there's few more I can't remember snd there is many more I have to watch

Old school Vampire Hunter D, nice. That and Ninja Scroll were some of the first movies that got me watching and looking for more.

I did not, however, care for GITS:2nd Gig that much :happyno:

Despite (because of?) living in Japan, I hate most anime. A lot of it is the same to me-- once you've seen one, you've seen em all. Even the series that I like at the beginning, I tend to tire of by the end (Tokyo Ghoul, Parasyte, Hunter x Hunter, and One Punch Man spring to mind.) That said, here are a few series that I genuinely liked, from start to finish:

Ore Monogatari (My Love Story), a high school love story. Usually "high school" and "love story" turn me right the fuck off, but this one is hilarious and full of earnest charm.

JoJo no Kimyouna Bouken/ JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Creative and insane with an awesome story that spans generations. New season starts in April. I can't wait!

Shirobako (means "white box" in English and refers to white video case a finished episode of anime is put into). A slice-of-life that takes place at an anime studio. You get to see all the work that goes into making your favorite anime.

Also seconding @LawyerLarry 's Vampire Hunter D recommendation. The newer film in particular is gorgeous.

So I stupidly got hooked on Tokyo Ghoul, thinking that they'd wrap everything up by the 12th episode.

I binged watched the follow-up, Tokyo Ghoul _/A, over the weekend and was PISSED at the nonsensical, inconclusive ending.

The one thing I really like about anines IS THAT THEY END & Tokyo Ghoul shattered that concept.

I'm gonna check out Shiro Bako based on your recommendation, and might check out this Hulu-recommended one about Japanese chicks with huge tits (I've actually never watched one of those kinds of anines before...true story!) I can't remember the name, but will update this thread if I start watching it...

    DeathNote looks pretty good.

    What's your take on Bleach?

Robotech series (Americanized version of Macross)
Sword Art Online I & II
    Devil is a Part-Timer
    Knights of Sidonia
    Psycho-Pass
    Eureka Seven
    The Seven Deadly Sins
    Attack on Titan
    Parasyte
    Freezing
    Yamada's First Time
    Tokko

I have a mixture of dark and funny animes on my list. Japanese humor can be hella raunchy, but my wife gets it now and we enjoy them together. Still not used to the concept that a lot of these animes were only made to have one season.
