Hard to nail down. I'd say it's a toss up between Terminator, Terminator 2, and Wrath of Khan.

The Matrix, the first one and only the first one. I have to pretend the other two pieces of shit weren't made.

Not sure if it falls into the "Sci-Fi" category, but Minority Report was brilliant

The first Star Wars movie from 1977 was pretty good.

The original Japanese Gojira is excellent (1954)
    Forbidden Planet
The Thing from Another World (the original one)
Crack in the World (British sci fi about scientists causing a crack in the Earth's crust)
Quatermass and The Pit (1968) mind-blowing British sci fi movie
The Wicker Man (original, uncut) insanely weird and great
Repo Man (has some sci fi elements)

    Great choice!

..but I really don't think The Wicker Man counts as sci-fi.
