Though I was confined to J.F.K. last Thursday, it was the first time in my life that I laid eyes on the N.Y. skyline. As we were flying right down the middle of Long Island from the north east to land, I was amazed at the long stretch of beach between the ocean and the inner body of water. It looks like some areas were only about a few blocks wide between the water. Then about 10 minutes before we landed, I saw some huge ass castle looking estates not too far away from some working class looking houses. I don't know the lay of the land, so I wasn't sure if that was the Hamptons?? I do regret that I was never able to see the twin towers, I've been to the top of the Sears tower in Chicago, but until this week I had never been anywhere near the tri-state area
I went there a bunch of times in my teens and early twenties and I don't remember anything about it. the lesson here is don't bother doing anything or going anywhere because you'll just forget about it later on. might as well save your money like Howard.
On average, hell fucking yes! I thought that was mere myth--it's not. not even in the same family as chain pizza.
im biased but NY pizza is amazing. i know other states do have good pizza. prolly NY transplants. I KEED I KEED but yea anyway, NY pizza is awesome
I never thought it was anything special. But I've only been a handful of times, I spent 1 1/2 months there for training once. It was great! Quickly made some friends and went out every night. I was surprised at how many people never do touristy things...a few had never been to the Statue of Liberty or the NYSE or the museums.
i had mixed experiences there concerning pizza. However, your average cheese slice was miles ahead of west coast and Midwest pizza. They're thinner, crisper and coated with better sauce and cheese. That being said, by far the best pie I ever enjoyed wasn't in the city, but at a tiny family-owned spot in westchester.
For me, the NY Pizza experience covers NYC, Long Island, Eastern Jersey and Westchester. That's the Goldilocks zone. I got to see the face of a Missouri-born and raised chick who ate her first slice of real pizza in Hackensack. Her eyes got real big and she said, "Holy shit...you weren't kidding!"
2 Things about New York you wouldn't think ... The Pizza is HORRIBLE!! 90% of the food sucks & is overpriced.... and .... The New Yorkers are nice as fuck! Everyone basically in NYC is really nice.
Pizza used to be better in NY in the '70s than it is today. And back then, a large Coke was dispensed in a large paper cup from a fountain that mixed the Coke syrup and seltzer. People over 40 will remember those fountains that had the plastic translucent containers on top that showed you the drinks being mixed. Soda in the pizzeria was much better then than it is today, when you have to buy Coke in a can or bottle.
and don't forget the evil Gov't planted multible bombs on the top and middle floors on not only the twin towers but tower 7 as well.
