Wow... Doesn't get much more Florida than this...

Man flags down deputy to charge phone, arrested for stolen credit cards

ST. PETERSBURG, FLA - Jerrica May is happy to be enjoying this Labor Day with daughter Lily.

The holiday could have been a lot more stressful.

She didn't realize she lost her debit card at Kahuna Bar and Grille on Gandy Boulevard until a Pinellas deputy called her.

"It is a debit card but it is also a credit card and it's linked up to all the money," said May. "They told me that they had my card in custody and they wanted to know if Mr. Brendan Duffy was authorized. And I said he most certainly is not!"

May and her niece, Trinity Dodier, out with her that night, couldn't help but laugh whey they found out how Duffy got caught!

The arrest affidavit spells out the whole bizarre encounter.

"I have no idea what he was thinking," said May.

It said early Saturday morning, Duffy flagged down a Pinellas Deputy driving on Gandy Boulevard asking him if he could charge his cell phone to call Uber.

"I think it's kind of funny," said Dodier.

The deputy stopped and Duffy made himself comfortable on a bench whipping out a bunch of credit cards.

"I mean if I had a pocket full of someone else's cars I definitely would not pull that pocket out," said May laughing.

But Duffy did. The deputy's keen eye noticed the cards were not in his name and arrested him.

"My money was kept safe," said May.

Dodier is especially thankful, She just moved from a small town and begged her aunt to go out never expecting this in the big city.

"You don't really hear about a lot of stuff like that in Wyoming. Then coming here and going out like the first time ever and that happens you're mind is kind of blown!" said Dodier.

May is surprised too and she couldn't help sharing this message to Duffy

"Dude. Use the cops to charge your phone all the time. Because you just saved us all and we appreciate that," May said through laughs
