Deputies: Florida man hitches ride on school bus after burglary A Florida man was arrested on Tuesday after deputies said he boarded a school bus in order to escape the area where he allegedly robbed a house earlier that morning. Erik Hall, 27, jumped on a Manatee County School bus at about 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday with the bus driver, Verna Esparza, 55, taking him to be a student, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports. Esparza told Hall to put a shirt on when he entered the bus, but he declined and sat a few seats behind the driver. Manatee County Sheriff's Office Deputies said Hall revealed to Esparza that he wasn’t a student and wasn’t supposed to be on this bus, but needed a ride home. Esparza waved down an administrator when they arrived at Manatee High School, who alerted the school’s resource officers, deputies added. "It’s a big deal because you don’t know who the guy is," Manatee High student Kimberly Rodriguez told WTSP. "You know he could have harmed a kid, he could have raped a kid, no one knows what could have happened." Deputies said they discovered Hall was a suspect in a burglary that had happened that morning in the same area as the bus pick-up. He was arrested on Wednesday on charges of trespassing on school property with possible burglary charges pending. Read more at the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
