    Dog has bad fleas this year. Ive bathed him, cut his hair, used front line, used diatomaceas earth everywhere and still no luck.

    Hes an old dog, he also has hot spots and while they are healed it seems the fleas are crowding around that area.

    Anyone have any tips??? I feel so bad for him, i know they are irritating his skin :( :( :(

    @Swifty.

    Seriously though, that sucks. Dogs are the best. What does the vet say?

    I guess the common sense thing would be to call them, theyve just given me frontline before.

    Bowl of warm soapy water with lemon juice in it. Comb, dip, comb dip. Cut up flea collars and put them in your vaccum bag. Vacuum VERY well and throw the bag away outside of the house. Frontline is worthless. Your vet will have better stuff.

    Front line only kills the fleas after they bite

    If there are eggs around they will continue to hatch and attack the dog. If there are fleas in your house you need to spray something with an IGR that sterilize's the eggs

    If the problem was strictly on your dog the Frontline would work you might have them in your yard or home

    There is a one time pill the vet can give your dog that will kill every flea on him in a matter of hours. Not sure what to tell you about your house.

    Your setting yourself up for a huge mess unless you treat the house

    Yikes. I really hate the chemical stuff too. My vet put the cats on Vectra because they both have :quote: flea allergy:quote:. One of them went into anaphalactic shock over bites. See if your vet will give Comfortis. You can also get Capstar. It will kill all the fleas on the dog, but doesn't last. Good as a temporary measure

    Yeah, he needs the good shit. I laugh at the "natural deterrents" for mice in the fall. You can take your peppermint oil and stick it up your ass! Fuck that, I want the most poisonous chemical possible to rid me of my problem.
