(Lake County Sheriff's Office) Deputies from two Florida counties posed as underage girls seeking sex in an undercover sting that resulted in 22 arrests, the Washington Post reported Friday. Those arrested included former workers from Disney’s Magic Kingdom, SeaWorld and Universal Studios and a youth counselor who had worked as an organizer for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the paper said. Sheriff’s deputies from Lake and Polk counties joined forces to carry out the sting as part of “Operation L&P.” They also arrested two registered sex offenders. Deputies posed as sex-hungry adolescent girls or one of their parents in Internet chat rooms and lured the suspects to a vacant house in Clermont, Fla., where the busts for solicitation took place. “Their communications and desires were outrageous and deviant,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said at a press conference, according to the Lakeland Ledger. Judd said the suspect who worked for Disney was Jeff Conrad. “He traveled to have sex with a 14-year-old child,” Judd said, according to MyFoxOrlando. “He had access to kids because, as he said, he was a Disney employee working at Magic Kingdom.” Disney told a local TV station that Conrad left Disney before the arrest, the Post reported. Judd said suspect Ryan Mayer worked at SeaWorld and suspect Tomas Adames worked at Universal Studios. Both theme parks told local media after the arrests the men had been terminated, the Post said. Youth counselor Ahmad Saleem showed up to the Clermont house expecting to have sex with a 12-year-old girl. The Post said the vehicle he was driving had a specialty license plate that said, “Invest in Children.” His Saleem Academy worked to empower young Muslims. Saleem shut it down after his arrest. Saleem had also been CAIR’s Orlando organizer. CAIR told the Orlando Sentinel that Saleem’s time with the group was brief and that he had left before his arrest, the Post said. Deputies also posed as johns and prostitutes during another phase of the sting. They charged 79 people with prostitution, including a pregnant woman, two high school girls and a man who allegedly tried to pimp his wife. The Post said a Uber driver also was arrested for prostitution after a two-hour trip to Clermont with a john.
