Anyone else develop these later in life?

My first 42 years I had no issues. In the last year or so I've noticed that I have a slight reaction when I eat too many peanuts, so I only eat them sparingly.

But this morning I had a reaction to what could only have been raspberry jelly (?!). My lips and nose started swelling, I felt feverish, my chest tightened, I started wheezing, had a rash on my forehead, neck, arms and wrists, my palms itched. It was a perfect storm of discomfort.

After about 75-90 mins it subsided but we were contemplating going to urgent care if it got any worse.

i have a pt who said she developed a peanut allergy after being pregnant but she eats peanut butter and peanut m&m's all the time without a problem.

she also told me that she saw a bald eagle carry away a full sized whitetail deer.

HC, when that happens, take a couple Benadryl. They're an antihistamine, and the allergic reaction triggers histamine production.

Yes, you can develop allergies as you get older. You should ask your doctor for a scratch test of the foods you think you might have issues with.

Lately, when I eat avocado, my mouth feels "fuzzy" in a way it never has before. Same with Kiwi.

I am choosing to ignore it.

Too much avocado causes an itchy rash on my thighs. So I eat it only a little when I do.

I thought about it at the time, but my throat was feeling constricted, wasn't sure I could get the pills down.

Seriously, if you have to, crush them and dissolve them in water. When I developed my allergy to morphine, it's what probably saved my life on the trip to emergency.

Fuzzy is the feeling I get after eating peanuts. I can usually eat a candy bar or peanut m&ms with no issue, but eating plain roasted peanuts causes problems.

You need to be real careful with nuts. I wouldn't mess around with that. You should probably go to an allergist.
