Howard related, well you know why...

    10. Ben Affleck

Returns $9.37 for every $1 paid.
Affleck lands on our list not because of any big flops but because of movies like Runner Runner which grossed just $63 at the global box office.

    9. Sandra Bullock

Returns $9 for every $1 paid.
Like Channing Tatum, Bullock is not considered overpaid by Hollywood standards, she lands here because of math. Huge backend payments on The Blind Side and Gravity make her look overpaid.

    8. Denzel Washington

Returns $6.90 for every $1 paid.
Washington can demand a huge salary so his films have to hit it out of the ballpark for him to offer a good return. Lately, his films have done fine but not outstanding.

    7. Channing Tatum

Returns $6.70 for every $1 paid.
Almost no one in Hollywood would consider Tatum overpaid but he lands on our list thanks to a combination of a giant backend payday on Magic Mikean an underperforming film in White House Down.
    6. Will Ferrell

Returns $6.60 for every $1 paid.
Comedies often struggle overseas which make it hard for funny movies to offer huge returns for studios. While films like The Campaign and The Other Guyshave done fine, they haven't done welll enough.

    5. Tom Hanks

Returns $5.20 for every $1 paid.
Cloud Atlas was a very expensive flop and Hanks played six different roles in the movie.

    4. Ryan Reynolds

Returns $4.90 for every $1 paid.
R.I.P.D. was one of the biggest flops of 2013 which hurt Reynolds' return number. Hopefully he'll do better with the upcoming Deadpool movie.
    3. Ben Stiller

Returns $4.80 for every $1 paid.
Comedy is hard and lately, Stiller's films haven't been doing well. Movies like Tower Heist and The Watchwere outright flops.

    2. Johnny Depp

Returns $4.10 for every $1 paid.
When Depp's movies hit, they're huge. The Pirates of the Caribbean films have earned a total $3.7 billion at the global box office. But he's been overpaid for misses like The Lone Ranger and Dark Shadows.

    1. Adam Sandler

Returns $3.20 for every $1 paid.
Sandler's latest movie, Grown Ups 2, was a hit but it didn't do well enough to compensate for the losses from Jack and Jill and That's My Boy.

I have NO idea why Adam Sandler even has a carreer... he is irritating, annoying and is a total no-talent. I don't know what it would take to actually get me to sit through one of his movies.

Returns $9 for every $1 paid.

Still, a lot better than any bank will return.

How does this list work? Does it include the other costs of the movie? If so, then it isn't a bad return...but if it takes into account only the actor's salary and not the marketing, other actors, etc., it is bad.

It's easier to evaluate the value of a producer or director when it comes to returning investment, it's impossible to know what another lead actor would have yielded in the same role.

I'd put Sandler in the producer/director category since he is the brand and runs the show.

These people are good actors(just in my opinion) and most of their films are decent but the overuse of CGI in their films today is killing their profits. CGI makes up for like 80% of a films huge budget today. If they got rid of the unnecessary CGI in their movies, they would have big profits.

Take Wall-E. It had a budget of $200 million. No mass actors, or set construction, or other set budgets, etc. Just CGI.

R.I.D.P. with Reynolds flopped because they spent about $100,000,000 on CGI. The film should've cost about $30,0000 instead of $130,000,000. They somehow thought a movie like that would make $150 million here???

Get rid of CGI, unless it's for a movie like transformers. Man o Steel was horrible in my opinion, as it looked like a fighting cartoon in every scene. No acting or substance to it. If it wasn't a superman movie, it would've tanked with it's $250,000,000 budget. :dontknow:

Agree. I turned off Anchorman 2 after about 15 minutes in. The guy is just screaming in every scene or making noises. He's just annoying in my opinion. I just don't get it, I guess. But hey, we all have our different tastes. :dontknow:

I sat through Anchorman 2 the whole way, fell asleep at some point, I think it's one of the worst comedies I've ever seen, I didn't laugh once. And I loved the first Anchorman.

Anchorman 2 the skits just go on and on, the characters are so whacky that none of the humor ever feels grounded, just a giant mess and it makes me question the intelligence of friends who liked it.

Both of those movies did really well. In today's world of so many shitty comedies, Neighbors was probably my favorite of 2014. Remember how jealous Zach Braff was of Seth Rogen when he was on?
