    http://pagesix.com/2016/05/28/frank-sinatra-wanted-to-whack-howard-stern-book-claims/

An upcoming book about Howard Stern by celebrity biographer Ian Halperin will include a bizarre claim that Frank Sinatra ordered a hit on the shock jock — but that goons may have murdered the wrong person by mistake.

The exposé, which Halperin is still writing, will claim that Ol’ Blue Eyes was furious because Stern went after his children in an on-air rant in the early 1990s.

“He criticized Frank Jr. and Nancy, and Frank lost his cool,” Halperin — who first revealed the tale on the “Anthony Cumia Show” podcast — told Page Six. “And everybody who ever knew Frank knew he was a nice guy, but you don’t want to piss him off. He had a big temper. And Frank allegedly put a hit on [Stern]. I have extreme corroboration on this.”

Halperin — who’s already written racy biographies on Michael Jackson, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and the Kardashians, among others — said his sources for the book believe an unnamed victim may have been accidentally whacked after being mistaken for Stern.

“A guy very similar to Howard’s profile — same height, same look, was killed in that era,” Halperin said.

Strangely, a similar claim was made in a book on Woody Allen that was released in October. Author David Evanier wrote in his tome, “Woody,” that Sinatra — whose ties to the mob have been chronicled ad nauseam — asked the Mafia to kill the director in retaliation for allegedly sexually abusing Dylan Farrow, Allen’s adopted daughter with Sinatra’s ex-wife, Mia Farrow. Allen has consistently denied any abuse claim.

“It’s going to be fair,” Halperin told us of the biography. “It’s not some hatchet job on Howard . . . I’ve no intention of doing that. Face it, he’s like 62 years old, he’s endured this long and he’s made the business better for everybody. But it’s going to be warts-and-all.”

Said a spokesperson for the Sinatra estate, “This is absolutely and completely ludicrous, and it’s someone using Frank Sinatra’s name to get their 15 minutes of fame.”

I call bullshit. If Sinatra even knew who Stern was, he'd probably just call him, "some radio loudmouth."

This guy is just trying to sell books.

True or not, I love that Wiggy will now have to worry about this book and cough up marbles for his lawyers to go after Halperin.

Frank died in the 90's. Maybe Godfather Stern had Frank whacked.

By the way, unless this guy has some real dirt on Howard, hardly anyone in 2016 will give a shit about a Stern biography. He's not pop-culture relevant anymore.

Looks to me that the Stern propaganda machine wants all the talk to be about Sinatra wanting to wack Stern instead of the real story of how Simon Cowell did wack Stern. (allegedly)

Can't have all the talk this weekend be about how great America's Got Talent is again cause Simon is back and Stern is gone so some one puts out a different story.

I've never watched the show but I hope this years premier is huge.

not that this has to do with Sinatra, but I remember there was a loudmouth shock jock out west somewhere that was killed in the parking lot of the radio station. I think that's when a lot of these DJs took personal security a lot more seriously.

Yeah, this is a bunch of bullshit. You can tell by the way he phrased it. Howard cannot sue for slander because the story isn't about him. Well, the story is, but the lie is not. The lie is about Frank Sinatra, who is dead and cannot sue for libel.

That was a dude named Alan Berg. Oliver Stone's "Talk Radio" was based on him, and the book "Talked to Death: The Life and Murder of Alan Berg".

Good flick. It was a much truer biography of Stern than "Private Parts", that's for sure, even though it wasn't about him.

Stone, or maybe Bogosian, sat in on a few Stern shows, to observe/take notes/etc, iirc.

I think "Talk Radio" is the source of Howard's beef with Oliver Stone, although I'm not sure what he was angry about.

lack of payment/credit? unflatteringly mirrored Howard's rise, too? :dontknow:
