    Friday Happy Hour Residency
    Featuring
Fred Norris From The Howard Stern Show

His voice is seldom heard. But the sounds of Fred Norris have been making Stern Show fans laugh for decades. In addition to playing the audio drops that we all know and love, Fred is the head writer and the longest tenured employee of the Howard Stern Show, excluding Howard himself.

Raised in the bucolic farmlands of Central Connecticut, Fred was banned from watching television growing up. Instead, Fred read and memorized as many books as possible, including the encyclopedia, filling his head with the otherwise useless knowledge that he shows off during the long-running bit, ‘Win Fred’s Money’.

While still in college, Fred worked overnights for WCCC in Hartford and at the end of one late shift, met the man who would change his life forever, Howard Stern. Since 1979, Fred has written some of the Stern Show’s most legendary bits, lent his voice to countless impersonations and will even strum a few guitar licks whenever Howard is in the mood to sing a tune on-air. Fred lives in New York with his lovely wife Allison and his daughter, Tess. HowardStern.com

i'm always happy to see my grandmother playing the guitar while sitting down. A must see can't miss entertainment experience.

Maybe he will do one of his fred munster or Kurt Waldheim Jr. impressions while playing one of his classics...

Fred's music always struck me as the poor man's Seven Mary Three, who were themselves the poor man's Pearl Jam.

I wish Howard would analyze the lyrics to Fred's angry song called "Don't Talk Down to Me." His embarrassingly intense singing style makes it difficult to understand all the words, but here's what I could make out:

    Don't talk down to me
I hate your guts and I really hate your friend
    No talkin' down to me

Quite frankly I could give a (shit) anyway

    Don't mess around with me
I'm tired and I really need some rest
    Don't mess around with me
I'll kill someone if I get much more depressed

    Don't talk down to me
You hypocrites with your phony trophy wives

(This was obviously written before Howard had a phony trophy wife.)

I suspected it. Fred could've been a little less on the nose with his lyrics.

    Here's a discarded verse:

    Don't talk down to me
I'm working on a Kinnison tribute song
    No talking down to me
Been studying for "Win Fred's Money" all weekend long

Free them? In the interest of the aural harmonic greater good, I'd just as soon keep them under lock and key.

I remember recording this when it was live. Those people are obviously there for Fuse's version of TRL (or whatever that show was), and had no idea who Fred Norris was. But Fred soaked it all up like they were fans of his. Truly embarrassing.
