"LOS ANGELES — The California man behind an anti-Muslim film that led to violence in many parts of the Middle East was sentenced Wednesday to a year in federal prison for probation violations in an unrelated matter, then issued a provocative statement through his attorney. The sentence was the result of a plea bargain between lawyers for Mark Bassely Youssef and federal prosecutors. Youssef admitted in open court that he had used several false names in violation of his probation order and obtained a driver's license under a false name." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/07/mark-basseley-youssef-prison-sentence_n_2090279.html There is a trend in the US justice system that is being exploited by those in power. What our justice system does when they cant punish you for a crime is they find another crime that they can punish you for and use a ridiculous maxim penalty that no one ever gets. They did it to Al Capone by way of tax evasion. No one seemed to care because the guy was a ruthless murderer. The prosecutors were celebrated as heroes. Now they use the same type of logic to arrest guys like Tommy Chong (not a murder) and this guy who made a youtube video. After violence breaks out in a less free country, he is condemned by our government and the president. He also had Muslims and the media after him. The government wasn't going to help him, so he went in to hiding and used fake names and got fake id. Unfortunately this violated his probation. He was on probation for bouncing a few checks. He had paid his debt to society and to the people he owed money to, but he was still on probation.Under his recent false identity he had committed no crimes, except your not suppose to have a false identity while on parole. They gave him time in prison for it, no else would go to prison for that. They could have even made allowances for extenuating circumstances considering that he hadn't engaged in any criminal activities and he wasn't safe. What he's really in jail for is for unpopular speech. He didn't kill anyone. The killers are to blame for that. This is a prime example of how the government gets you. Why is there no outrage? they got the gangster, no one said anything...they got the druggie, he got punished now they're coming for freedom of speech. Whats next? He could easily be killed by Muslims in prison. He's not rich or famous. He's a regular guy who's going to real jail.
