I am shocked at how good they are. How come they're so good? Are they cooking their burgers in lard? I now consider Friendly's the most underrated chain restaurant of all time.

I worked there as a cook for one summer during college. No offense, but you are setting the bar pretty low. Mediocre food, at best.

I can't say anything about the rest of their food, but I totally enjoy their burgers and waffle fries smothered in cheese. What's the story on the burgers? Are they cooked in lard or is it the seasonings that give it the rich flavor?

I recently bought a cast iron skillet. I made bacon cheeseburgers in it and I cooked the bacon first, then I cooked the burgers in the bacon grease. Oh my god they were the best burgers ever

nice, I remember that too. They were bad ass!
Come to think of it since I moved to South Jersey I haven't seen a Friendly's in awhile. I guess we don't have any around here.

I cook on a charwood/charcoal grill 90% of the time. Other than a friendly's burger or maybe a whopper (is that really a burger?), I've never had a pan fried/skillet burger taste so good. Very rarely do I come across a meal that I don't feel I could cook better. It's driving me nuts that I can't cook a burger as good as Friendly's.

They shut down a lot of them. The closest one to me is now over an hour away. Which really is too bad considering that it's a great family restaurant with exceptionally reasonable prices. At least for where I live.

Literally frozen beef pucks, with no added seasoning (at least circa 1994).

Now and 1994 are a world apart. FYI almost every restaurant uses frozen patties.

I think it's the good buns they use. They are quite good but I prefer Red Robin over them.

I hadn't been in a Friendly's since I was a kid until I wandered into one after a concert about 5 years ago. I can't even remember what I had (prob a burger), but I do recall that it was really fucking good. Of course, I haven't gone back...don't want to tempt fate or anything.

Go, you'll enjoy it. Get really stoned first and make sure you get the waffle fries drowned in cheese.

Did you see the "Boston" Simpson's episode last week? They had every possible Boston reference imaginable, including Fribbles. They brought back butter crunch ice cream, those shits should never have eliminated it to begin with.

As for the burgers, I always loved the Patty Melts

They stopped making butter crunch? That was my father's favorite.
