    Beloved character actor Fyvush Finkel passed away on Aug. 14 after months of reportedly struggling with heart problems.

    He was born Philip Finkel in Brownsville, Brooklyn, in 1922, and by the time he was 9 years old, he was performing onstage in Yiddish plays and changed his first name to Fyvush. His big Hollywood break came when David E. Kelley cast him as cantankerous attorney Douglas Wambach in the 1992 hit show Picket Fences, a role for which Finkel received an Emmy Award for best supporting actor in a drama series.

    I thought he was dead. My mom told me she saw him perform 5-6 years ago at their community in Florida which meant he was still fucking performing in his late 80s. Thought he died long ago
