Beloved character actor Fyvush Finkel passed away on Aug. 14 after months of reportedly struggling with heart problems.

He was born Philip Finkel in Brownsville, Brooklyn, in 1922, and by the time he was 9 years old, he was performing onstage in Yiddish plays and changed his first name to Fyvush. His big Hollywood break came when David E. Kelley cast him as cantankerous attorney Douglas Wambach in the 1992 hit show Picket Fences, a role for which Finkel received an Emmy Award for best supporting actor in a drama series.

He was the sole "name" in the Coen's "A Serious Man"

He played the alleged Dybbuk in the prologue.

Check this out for the bizarre quote of the day award...

"After learning of his passing, Silicon Valley star Kumail Nanjiani tweeted: “R.I.P. Fyvush Finkel. Picket Fences was huge in Pakistan. We loved it. No joke. Today is Pakistan’s Independence Day. There is a plan.”

He always seemed like he was having a blast with that role. "Douglas Wambaugh for the defense! "

He took over as the most beloved old actor after Abe Vigoda died. Is it finally Zsa Zsa's time?

    Yeah, his Wambaugh was great.

And didn't Howard mention a few times he'd have made a great Ben Stern?

I thought he was dead. My mom told me she saw him perform 5-6 years ago at their community in Florida which meant he was still fucking performing in his late 80s. Thought he died long ago
