Jeep dealers have a rep for dumping whatever coolant is handy in if you need a "top off". Problem is that they changed formulas somewhat recently and if old and new are mixed you make jello sludge. Brilliant! :nojj:

It's cold here, yes. But along with that, people are snowmobiling around my neighborhood, there's skating on an outdoor rink behind city hall, and after-work skiing about a half hour from here. I'm enjoying the quirky charms of winter here.

on the rare occasion when i got up north and my windows freeze up, i pour hot water on the icey glass and quickly towel it off instead of scraping it.

i've never cracked a window and it always works. is that an odd way to do it?

i haven't lived in snow since i was 12, and i'm lazy, so instead of scraping like the reat of the sheep, i thought wtf, why not pour hot water on it.

maybe i've just been lucky with a window not cracking, or maybe it wasn't cold enough to cause a problem. either way, i highly recommend it.

I've heard room temperature water is okay, but not warm and hot water is an absolute no-no. Then again much like where you live, Houston isn't notorious for grim and frostbitten weather. So who the fuck knows.

I certainly wouldn't use hot water for fear of cracking......especially with sub zero temps. When that cold it's not unheard of for a windshield to crack just due to a defroster blasting on it thermal shock is a bitch. :c
