That is a quote from Howard Stern. One of the best things Howard has said in years. Yes, Fuck Bruce Springsteen.

always liked his voice but hated the music behind him--if that makes sense.

    much like tom petty.

You mean the band or the style of music?

I'm a big Petty fan, but I've always hated Springsteen. His music always felt neutered and toothless to me, but everybody else seemed to love it. Same with that ugly douche bag, Billy Joel.

    with springsteen, both.

i love petty as well, but his sound always seemed overproduced. i'd like to hear him stripped bare--along the lines of what rubin did with cash.

Huge Bruce fan, Dude. Got to disagree with you there. He's the rock & roll Steinbeck.

Springsteen is a phony. His music would lead you to believe that he is a down-home, blue-collar traditional sort of guy who you'd share a beer with on Friday nights, but in reality, he's almost as big a limousine liberal as Howard.

let's say he was a phony? so what, if you like a song you like a song. i couldn't care if he had 1 dollar or 1 trillion dollars.
however, he wasn't born rich. he did grow up ina blue collar neighborhood. when he started writing songs he wrote about that reality and his true feelings. it's very very rare for a song writer to change styles, even if they wanted to. and why would they change anyways, it's what their fans love, what they are good at, and what they enjoy writing about.
if you became a billionaire, would you all the sudden change what music you enjoy? and if you did, wouldn't you be the phony?

    ps:
i dont understand how limousine liberal is an insult

I watched a couple of minutes of his performance last night. His shows are much ado about nothing. Lots of instruments (horns especially) playing loud and earnestly as if they're calling down the angels or leading men into battle but it's all blaaaaaaaand despite their trying to convince you something important is happening.

Did you see when the horn guys were dancing/dipping together in a line in a choreographed way at one point? I had to throw on a sweater, the douche chills were so bad!!!
