    Planned obsolescence.
Call a repairman and he will only charge you about 800 bucks.

It's only about a year old... Evidently dishwashers with the garbirator (built in food grinder) can be fire hazards of a piece of debris (glass) slips by the screen and clogs the thing...

That's why they're no longer making them :/

Always seemed more efficient to just wash dishes by hand. I think it actually takes longer to LOAD them neatly into the machine than it does to just hand-wash them quickly.

Never been a dishwasher user. They seem superfluous and counterproductive to me.

My better half washes the dishes with scalding hot water, soap and a scrub brush, rinses them off.. then puts them in the dishwasher.

Sometimes in the middle of the night I will take them out and put them away then flip the little magnet over to the clean side.
She thanks me for running the dishwasher and putting away the dishes.

She said the dishwasher heats the water up even more and that gets bacteria off that regular hot tap water can't.

She actually had a bit of a point so I said nothing and just continued my nightly charade.

    Agreed.
    Wash as you go.
    Don't let them pile up.
Some of my dishes never get put away.
Use. Wash. Put in drain board.
    Use again when needed.

That's a really good point! Whenever yopu have to unload a dishwasher it takes like waaaaaaayy too long and I ALWAYS regret I didn't just wash as I went.

The whole point of a dishwasher is it's supposed to make things easier or faster and I find it to be quite the opposite in both.

I just replaced a dishwasher..pump started a high pitched whine, then wouldn't drain. Had to empty it out with a shop vac.
Figured it was cheaper to replace it rather than get someone to look at it.
