Well. I woke up to a true fiasco in my kitchen this am. I noticed the paint above my window over my sink had 'puffed out' with water, and water was leaking down from the top of my window.
The outlets on the wall weren't working either.
I suspect I'll be spending a shit load of money on this mother fucker.
Anyway, can anyone here suggest the right plan of action? Do I call a plumber, an electrician, a window guy, or a roof guy?

Unless you know a general contractor you may have to call all of the above.

    Find the leak, first.

...i think youd be better off to call a general contractor and let them try to determine where the leak is coming from.

Sorry Gatgirl... what a sucky way to start a Monday.

I would have let loose a string of colorful phrases in your situation this morning. :pissed:

Good luck - I agree with the others... start with a general contractor.

Start with shutting of the power to any outlets that are near it. Find where its coming from, might be an upstairs pipe or toilet.

Sounds like a roof issue if there is no upstairs.

This is exactly why those who say owning vs renting is such a cut and dry (ironic) decision.

I'd shut off the water. You'll want a plumber to find and fix the leak and then a "remediation" service who will take care of water damage and any MOLD, which is a big deal.

Welcome to Monday. Embrace the suck and take care of the problem. You in San Diego? I have an excellent plumber.

The fact that the paint is bubbling above your window is an obvious indication that the window is probably not the problem. As has been stated, the first priority is to shut down any affected circuits at the breaker panel and determine the source of the leak. It may just be the flashing above the window, but sadly, water can travel a long way before its presence becomes apparent, which brings the roof and plumbing into play. IMHO, if enough water has been flowing inside the wall(s) to effect your electrical system, then the wall(s) probably need to be opened up, just to ensure proper drying if nothing else. You don't want mold or dry rot getting a foothold in there.

Please turn the breaker off to any circuit around there before you start poking around.
