ATLANTA, Ga. — Georgia Governor Nathan Deal has announced he plans to veto a controversial HB757, known as the "religious freedom" bill.

The measure passed by the state's Republican-controlled legislature, would give faith-based organizations in Georgia the option to deny services to gay people.

"I believe it is a matter of character for our state," Deal said in announcing his veto. "Our people every day work side by side without regard to the color of the skin of their fellow mate, or the religion their co-worker might adhere to. They are simply trying to make life better for themselves and their communities. That is the character of Georgia. I am going to do my part to keep it that way. For that reason, I will veto House Bill 757."

Deal added, "We do not need to discriminate against anyone in order to protect the faith-based community."

Pretty smart he didn't pass this dumbass bill...

It would've gotten struck down in the courts anyway and they'd have lost all that movie/production $$$ that's flowing into the state.

Is this the one that wants to keep gender bathrooms only for use by the original gender?

Exactly, why risk thousands of jobs and millions of dollars because some people can't deal with gay marriage when the bill stood no chance in the courts.

Now, to be fair, on the other hand, allowing either sex to use either bathroom like they're doing in NYC is fucking insane!!!

Rapes are going to go up!

I'm "identifying" as female today, guess I'll go check out some gash.

I think this bill allowed religious groups to refuse services to gays...

I was just saying, the other end of the spectrum is just as crazy.

I could be totally wrong but I think this bill was about people being able to deny other people services based on sucking dick

"The legislation, which first surfaced on March 16 and passed both Republican-controlled chambers in hours, would allow faith-based organizations to deny services to those who violate their “sincerely held religious belief” and preserve their right to fire employees who aren’t in accord with those beliefs."

Thanks, I read an article about the NBA, NFL, Disney etc threatening penalties against the state if this bill passed, wasn't sure what it encompassed.

You want this guy to use the woman's bathroom??? Really? The police would be called in a millisecond. Let this guy use the men's room.
