Dogtown, Oakland, California
Dogtown is a nickname for a portion of West Oakland (officially Clawson) in the city of Oakland, California. Oakland Police officers coined the phrase due to a large population of stray dogs dating from the early 1980s. It is bounded on the east by Adeline Street, on the west by Mandela Parkway (previously the Cypress Street Viaduct), and its north-south limits are the 580 freeway and 28th Street. The area is undergoing rapid redevelopment from former industrial uses to live-work and other residential forms.
I blame the gay's for cleaning up and fixing crack houses.
Shes complaining about "globalization and community renewal" happening in urban cities yet black people vote dem and dems are for globalization.
Seems like a nice lady. Liked her point about talking to your neighbor that doesn't look like you. The rest seemed crazy gibberish.
I don't think she knows what globalization is.
She used code words like final solution and whited out.
She said a white lady told her if you want to live in San Francisco move to West Oakland.
Rapper makes video because he can't affordd to live in Oakland anymore.
Just forcibly evict and seize the homes of white and asian tech workers and it should return to being a paradise.
I remember watching something on San fran, how it used to be a black city, but once the whites moved in it forced the blacks to oakland. I wonder where they're moving to, or ghettoficating, next.
is this deal that blacks and latinos used to live in a place
then wealthier whites moved in and they can no longer afford to live there?
I live in place where that happened
it was white people making an ok living run out by white people making a nice living
San Fran is becoming like NYC. The money always pushes/buys the less wealthy out unless there are projects or low income housing.
Money is moving into the Bed Stuy area of Brooklyn which used to be very dangerous. If the base buildings are good, money will move in and gentrify.
Neil Patrick Harris and his white partner bought a huge brownstone in Harlem!
The black community needs to become part of the gentrification instead of the obstacle.
Become contractors, business owners and entrepreneurs.
The school system in these areas should focus on life and work skills. How to interview, write a resume, balance a checkbook, run a business. Expose them to business owners, get them excited about becoming part of the growth.
This is a cultural problem with a minority that has been beaten down and believes that becoming a real-world success is becoming a sellout.
Urban renewal means negro removal.
Tell that to Spike Lee. He was whining about gentrification in Brooklyn even though he has a expensive Manhattan apt.
