I went to an anatomy lab for a class once. In it were buckets of human hearts, preserved lungs, numerous full cadavers, a severed head, bisected people and various other body parts. It was cool as fuck

They had displays that were only nerve tissue of a full human or cardiovascular of the brain. All other tissue completely removed. It was amazing. We are freaky beasts for sure.

British 18th century bleeding bowl: Bloodletting was once used to treat just about every illness. This bowl has a scale marked in fluid ounces to measure how much blood had been let out of the patient. And as barbers were once surgeons, the running blood was marked by their red-striped poles.

One thing that amazed me was the size of the femoral artery. Looked like a goddamn 3/4" water pipe. When you think about the volume of blood the heart moves it blows your mind.

Doctor’s grow nose on the forehead of 22 year-old man. The patient suffered a severe nasal trauma in a serious car accident in August 2012.

Doctors weren’t able to repair it, but decided to take cartilage from one of the young man’s ribs to grown a new nose. The nose, which is temporarily attached to his forehead, has been developing for 9 months and is ready to be transplanted. This is the first time such procedure takes place.
