I need to buy new tires tomorrow. How does a female go about buying the appropriate tires without getting ripped off?

Thinking Wal-Mart. They're pretty cut and dry. Big chain stores try to upsell big time.

    Help a sista out?

I heard Costco from 2 other people AFTER I bought two tires a year ago somewhere else. :(

Apparently they have good prices and a decent selection.

Put it on your list of possibilities...

I've heard the same about Costco, but I'm not a member :(
They won't sell to non-members. I swear, this is one of the few times I regret not having a penis. Men are treated so differently when it comes to car stuff.

Costco is where I buy mine. Free lifetime rotations & repair. Good prices no bullshit. Only thing is they fill with nitrogen so the gas station air pump is out.

All those extra fees always confuse me.
Is it necessary to have an alignment?

Not sure where you are, but if you have a farm or fleet store, they usually have good tires at low prices.

I wish they'd quit it with the nitrogen. It's a royal pain in the ass. You feel as if can never fill your tires anywhere else, and when you DO drag the car to Costco you have to WAIT for them to get around to your car..... just to put a few pounds of air in a tire! It's the pits.

Firestone is not awful. Sears is okay. Not sure what you're afraid of - mansplaining and upselling? Just buy the second cheapest all season tire that fits your car in a brand you"ve heard of. Your vulva, pretty as it might be, should not get in your way. :)

Yes, an alignment is a must. I know, it sucks.

Stay away from Pep Boys, ripoff artists. I've had the best luck going to small independent businesses. They are grateful you came to them over other choices and won't fuck you over.
