    I still remember the first time I heard this. Blew my freaking mind. Just amazing, harrowing, guttural blues.

    Then I found out the title is taken from the hymn, "Dark Was The Night - Cold Was The Ground, Where They Crucified My Lord."

    It just sounds like that.

    Carl Sagan even put it in the Voyager probe. He clearly had no idea what the song was about. But at least he knew it was good.
