If I want to take some movie clips and edit them for posting on youtube, what's a good program? Anyone have any recommendations?

I'm looking for something better than that Movie Maker software that comes with windows. I guess I can always use adobe software for free for 30 days.

When i learned, I hated premier it was garbage. Used FCP for the vast majority of my work. Switched to Premier about 2 years ago and I gotta say I dig it. However i would like to hear more about FCPX. But i am perfactly happy with creative cloud right now.

If you don't have much (or any) experience in editing, I would start with something like Sony Movie Studio or Pinnacle Studio. I've used them both. They both have plenty of features and relatively friendly user interfaces. They're inexpensive too at under $100 for standard versions, which would be just fine.

Adobe Premiere Pro CC is great, but aside from the steeper learning curve for a beginner, it also sounds like it would be overkill for what you described and for what I imagine is your level of experience.

I don't capture video from netflix or places like that so I'm not really one to ask. But a quick google search turned up things like
Audials Moviebox that apparently is used for capturing online video.

If you want to keep a youtube vid, just copy the YouTube link and go to savetube.com

Go to youtube for instructional clips on how to do whatever it is you're looking to do.

If all you want to do is clip, then this will do the trick and it's free.

    Freemake Video Converter

Another option is to go to giveawayoftheday dot com. They have commercial a new package of commercial software where they give away a new package daily. The rub is that you only have 24 hrs to download and activate but after that it's yours to keep. They are always posting video and audio editing software like Aisesoft.

Thanks. I'm definitely going to need to record from Netflix, so that helps.

Sony Vegas is a bit cheaper than Creative Cloud. It's basically a clone of Premiere. But the Creative Cloud is definitely a great product if it's in your price range.

I use Cyberlink power director. It's way more affordable than Adobe products ($60-120 depending on extras, etc) and has everything you'll need. It's rad.

Adobe Premiere Elements is cheap and good for home use.

Youtube also has its own editor, but it's pretty limited.
