This company is creepy as fuck. Not only because their relationship with NSA is top-secret and a matter of national security but also because of shit like this:

    https://rt.com/usa/news/google-internet-online-offline-500/

Fuck Google. I've already removed them as the search engine and will get a new email once I retire gmail in Jan 2013.

I've also stopped using them as a search engine, but is there any reason in particular for changing your e-mail address (or the timing of the change)? I considered it more hassle than it was worth. Just curious if I should re-consider.

I'm 31 and they seem to think that I'm 45-55. They're not as smart as they think they are.

I've gone to Bing for searching and have snatched up an MSN address, but I am hesitant to make the e-mail change.

I think email is even more important than a search engine since it has all your private thoughts and correspondences in it.

I've actually been using Gmail since the first beta (which was on APril 1st long time ago). I was one of the first 10,000 people to get the invite because I had a friend who was at Google. I used to be a huge fan of them when they were fighting MS.

But few years ago, this company has gone power crazy and they're amassing all this personal info. EVERYTHING they do, every product they make, is about sucking personal info away from you and putting it onto their servers so it can be copied to NSA and/or mined and sold to others.

As for what email service I will use, I'm thinking either GMX or Apple's iCloud (both re free). I'm leaning towards iCloud because Apple doesn't make any money from your privacy and they have no ads on their email.

When I went there it told me that I'd opted out of it. That's a good thing, right?

    Google got my age perfectly.

I use Google services all over the place and I honestly don't give a fuck that they have all my information. I have nothing to hide, really. I'm an average guy, just like anyone else. On top of that their apps are the best out there. I used Outlook for years religiously and I dropped it because Gmail was so much better. In combination with Android, it's a golden combination. It all just works flawlessly. I love it.

what is google going to find out about me? i love buying clothes? i'm on a "howard stern" message board? i'm a libertarian/mitt romney supporter?
yes, it's big brother but if it's just collecting consumer info, who cares?
as long as personal financial info is secret, it doesn't seem all that dangerous.

i've got to admit, it's pretty amazing that after i'm on a specific website (allsaints, saks, horchow) when i go to different pages an add pops up.
and it always says something like "hi isabella...we think......". i could never figure out how they knew i visited certain websites.:dontknow:
