I have had a Garmin Nuvi 660 sitting in a drawer for about a year, and now the screen doesn't respond to touch.

Anyone ever have this problem? any ideas on how to fix it?

Mine did the exact same thing. Time to either send it back to Garmin, for repairs (about $40) or buy a new one. Bummer.

Your Garmin is probably cheating on you.

Seriously, remove the battery and reboot it. I have a couple of them in drawers too. My droid razr with google nav is better anyway. Find a good car cradle designed to fit the dash and you'll have a superior setup.

Did you make sure that the switch on the top right of the unit is not set to the "lock" position?

i don't want to spend any unnecessary money right now, and i have an iphone with the awful apple maps. I loved my Garmin, and I have all the mounts and chargers and stuff already

I read online that it is a hardware problem with the nuvi 660s with certain serial numbers, and sho nuff, mine is one of them. but of course, the warranty is over.

guess i will just have to get used to getting lost.

I do the same thing. My garmin quit on me and it was too much to get it fixed. I did the ahhhh "rigged" way and put velcro on my dash and on the back of my phone to navigate now.

Download the free navigation app "waze". Been using it for over a year and it's great. The users of waze can edit the maps of areas they drive.

check for a tiny hole on the underside and insert paper clip to reset the device. If it has that of course. I had an older Garmin and that's what I had to do.

I've seen this before. It means you're dead. Like Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense. Or maybe a vampire.
