Hey dink, can you get a bike worth a shit for like $500 bucks?
Or am I just a stupid cheapskate?
you can. what do you plan on using the bike for and do you have any style in mind (e.g., road bike, mountain bike, commuter, hybrid, touring)?
Mostly for road riding.
Nothing hardcore, I have a beach cruiser which is a nice bike, but I'd like to get a little more serious about riding.
trek makes a line called fx (fitness bikes). i think they're entry level fx bike is around $600. you could get one for $500 or less used, i'm sure (maybe even one of the more expensive models). i'd look on your local craig's list and check used bikes. if you see one you like, post it here or in a new thread and i'll take a look. wetback and walleye slayer are super into bikes and would probably be even more helpful. i'll look around at other new models that are around $500 and good bikes.
looks like the livestrong model has come down in price. (still a good bike)
do you want flat bars or drop bars?
Mountain biking is more fun imo. Ive borrowed road bikes and it tried it. It just wasn't for me.
I recently went old school and picked up a P.K. Ripper street bike
had one of the OG Rippers back in the early '80s
omg...i remember pk rippers! i haven't heard that name forever. they were legit bmx bikes. they had some special frame feature that was unique to them. wtf was it?
oh yeah...the downtube was flat and tall instead of round. fucking pk rippers!
Cool, thanks for the info bor.
I will use you guys as my consult before any purchase.
Probably straight bars. We'll see.
I've done that trail like 1000 times
oh shit...crash at the redhook crit:
