WIN LAKE, MICHIGAN — A nice trip downriver turned nightmarish for three women, who found themselves stranded after heeding some faulty advice. MLive reports that the three women, all Michigan residents, showed up at the launch site near Maple Island Road bridge on Tuesday afternoon. It was their first time tubing down the Muskegon River. Someone near the bridge reportedly told the trio that the river runs in a circle and would eventually bring them back to wherever they started. Believing it would be a quick and easy trip, the women happily set off around 4 p.m. Six hours later, they were still floating down the river. With darkness setting in, the trio got out of the water and stayed near the riverbank. With no water, food or phone to call for help, they huddled around each other and yelled for help all night, according to WZZM. The next morning, the women went back into the water and were eventually found by two fishermen just before noon. The fishermen called rescuers, who escorted the ladies back to dry land. All three women appeared to be fine save for some scratches and insect bites.
